Newly turned soil in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

An excellent day's cycling in the Wolds today with daughter Beth and good friend Brian.  We rode the usual route from home in Scartho out through Barnoldby to meet up with Brian at Beelsby.  From here it was on to Rothwell for lunch and home via Swallow.  A round trip of 22 miles.  We were lucky with the weather; it was warm with periods of sun and managed to avoid the rain.  It is beginning to get 'back endish' in the countryside now; the harvest is well underway and some fields are even being ploughed.  One such was between Swallow and Beelsby on the way home and I revelled in the rich, warm Christmas cake smell of the freshly turned earth and enjoyed the raucous calling of the gulls as they followed the tractor searching for food items revealed by the plough.
