Again looking for photographs for my degree work on Industrial Landscapes and the coexistence of nature with Industry, this evening we went for a walk along the Humber Bank adjacent to the Novartis plant. I was pleasing to note that, not only does wildlife manage to exist alongside industry, but, in some cases, industry actually lands a hand. Here Novartis has set aside a piece of land specifically to act as a high tide roost for waders when they are pushed off their mudflat feeding grounds by the rising waters. We were treated to a glorious sunset and it was a delight to listedn to the calls of curlew and the less common whimbrel.
