Wreck Hunting at Cleethorpes.

As the tides have been suitable this week I have spent a couple of days wreck hunting down on the shore.  The first trip was to the Grimsby end just outside the lock gates where there is the wreck of the Good Tidings.  Although easy to find, in patches the mud is a tad gloopy and has a tendency to suck your boots off!!  The next day I made a trip to the other end of the beach at the south end of of Cleethorpes.  Here there is the wreck of an old seine netter that I think may have been scuttled on purpose to dispose of her.  This site is somewhat easier to get to as the beach is firmer here.  In both cases though low tide is a must!!!  Both are very photogenic.  I was lucky with the weather on both occasions and on the second we enjoyed fish and chips afterwards sitting on the sea wall.  Magic.

Early Autumn Colour in the Wolds and a Perfect Sunset.

After a busy day photographing in Cleethorpes, it was time to take Jet for a walk.  We opted for Willingham Woods on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and close to Market Rasen as we thought there might be some early Autumn colour.  We were in luck as some trees were beginning to turn nicely to deep amber, gold and reds.  We also found an abundance of blackberries so picked another pie's worth before heading for home.  By this time the sun was sinking fast and I managed to capture some very pleasing sunset images.

A day of Perfect Weather in Cleethorpes.

I am currently working on the first assignment for my next degree module which involves photographing my local area, hence the trip into Cleethorpes.  I had already secured one of my objectives: kite surfing and was keen to obtain shots of the Cleethorpes Light Railway in action.  Unfortunately they were only running diesel rather than the more picturesque steam.  Even so, there was a great deal to capture the interest as large crowds of locals and visitors alike were out enjoying the October sun.

Derbyshire Birding.

Just spent a wonderful couple of days with my brother at his caravan in Derbyshire where he has a feeding station outside the window. He gets redpoll, siskin and nuthatch among many others. Typically the redpolls and nuthatches neglected to appear but it was good to get starlings and house sparrows which I don't get at home. It was also luxury photography from the caravan, being fed tea and biscuits at regular intervals!!  The other bonus from the visit was the trip to Bakewell to look at and buy for £14 a framed print of Ansel Adams' 'View from Inspiration Point, Yosemite Valley'.
