Scotland 2015. Day 12, Glen Affric.

A lazy start today.  Peter and I were tired and my knees were really sore yesterday’s tough walk.  Les also has neck problems so an easy day was in the offing.  After a late coffee we set off down Glen Cannich to drive up to Loch Mullardoch.  Another delightful glen with beautiful river and interesting to have views of the hills Peter and I covered yesterday.  While up here we had excellent views of several pairs of red-breasted mergansers and some very close views of red deer stags with antlers just growing and still in velvet.  We had hoped to drive up Strathfarrer to Loch Monar but unfortunately it is closed on a Tuesday.  Instead we drove on to do a short forest walk at Reelig where there are some of the UK’s largest trees.  On the way back to the site we drove along a back road on the opposite side of the glen and were pleased to find a pair of grey wagtails feeding chicks.
