Lake District, October 2019. Day 2.

Last night Thomas arrived at 6.00 and then drove us to the Wild Boar for an excellent celebratory meal for our wedding anniversary.
We awoke today to a wet and gloomy morning.  After a lazy breakfast Thomas took Heather into Kendal for the Wool Gathering and a man-free mooch around the shops.  Thomas and I went into Ambleside for a mooch around the outdoor shops eying up waterproof Rohan trousers, Alpkit bivibags and Alpkit swimming wetsuits.  Next year beckons already.
As we left Ambleside the sun began to put in an appearance and by the time we arrived back at the site it was a fine afternoon. We then went for a run - shuffle in my case - before Thomas went off to pick up his mum who had had a good day.  When they returned it was, of course, beer o'clock.  We have just cracked open a bottle of celebratory prosecco, courtesy of Thomas, and put the curry in the oven.
The forecast is good for tomorrow and we look forward to a fine day on Loughrigg, my first mountain summit since heart surgery in January.
