Cycling the Water Rail Way

Cycling the Water Rail Way

Not having seen our friends Brian and Heather since the beginning of lockdown, we decided to meet up in Bardney for a ride along the Water Rail Way to Lincoln and back.  It was easy to be socially distanced, but we did worry about how busy the trail might be.  I the event it was no problem; no busier than usual.  The weather was perfect and we had an excellent ride.  It was good on the wild life front too.  There were more whitethroats than I think I have ever seen/heard in a day.  We also saw or heard blackckcap, reed and sedge warbler, common tern, many swans including on nests and with cygnets, my first swift of the year and a cuckoo prospecting for nests to parasitise.

A perfect day.
