Lake District, May, Day 1

We woke in Grimsby this morning to lowering skies and dampness and some spitting rain.  We had already done a fair bit of packing so this went smoothly and we were away by 11.00.  The journey went well with one stop for lunch at Ferrybridge.  We drove through rain but as we dropped over the A66 and approached the Lakes, skies cleared and the temperature went up.  By the time we arrived at Ashes Lane at 3.00 it was warm and pleasant.  We were soon set up and enjoying a cup of tea in the sun.  Thomas and Katy arrived at 5.30 and birthday celebrations ensued followed by a meal and a very pleasant evening.  After they had left for home, it was time for bed looking forward to our week to come.
