Last night’s rain did indeed fall as snow on the
tops. It was a bright clear frosty start
with snow covering all the Lakeland fell tops.
I got out early onto the fields behind the site for some early morning
photography before the snow melted. It
was wonderful to hear the bubbling cry of curlew from the surrounding hills.
After breakfast we went for a walk along Ashes Lane, where I had been first thing and then carried on along footpaths that took us in a large circle across fields, along quiet lanes and through woodland to return to the site after a leisurely 3 miles.
We finished our day with a fine meal and a couple of excellent pints and a glass of red for Heather.
