Bike Ride with Heather

Heather and I enjoyed the same bike ride today as last Friday, although the weather wasn't so pleasant with a nagging chill breeze.  On the bird front the highlight was, perhaps hearing at least 6 chiffchaffs calling and we also saw a kestrel fly off just in front of us on the way back into Brigsley.  Cowslips were in flower in the ditch bottom near Waithe and bluebells and pink campion are now in flower.

  1. On our walk yesterday we saw a veritable flock of carrion crows on spring barley. I would estimate 15 birds. Are these young birds who are yet to pair up I wonder? I also wonder if fewer crows are being shot by gamekeepers and farmers under the new legislation. I wonder the same about the huge numbers if woodpigeons about these days.
