Late, Hot Afternoon round the Horsefield and the Dead Wood

After a quite lethargic day, having been up early for the moths, I decided to wander round the Horsefield and over to the Dead Wood.  On the way over the first fields I immediately noticed that the new crop is already sprouting after only a week and with no rain the ground seems parched.  Nature is amazing.  Again there were lots of butterflies on the wing and the ash trees are now coming into flower.  Near the end of the circuit I was pleased to get views of a pair of linnets and a couple of sedge warblers.
