A quick trip out to Scallows today to top up the feeders. It was very cold at )C and -4C overnight at home; no doubt a degree or two colder out in the Wolds. It was, however, a clear sky with bright sun and frost and lying snow. It was absolutely beautiful to be out.
I had a brief sit in the hide after topping up the feeders and already there was a great deal of activity. Altogether I saw 22 bird species along with a superb view of a brown hare and the usual squirrels. Perhaps the highlight, though was seeing and hearing the raven as it cronked overhead.
