Yet again a cold and showery day as we parked in the parking area at Grasby Bottoms to meet up with Brian and Heather for a walk. It was good to manage our regular Friday day out as lockdown eases, although it was somewhat curtailed because of the weather. Normally we cycle together but none of us could summon up the enthusiasm for the bike in the cold with the prospect of rain or even snow. We walked through Hendale wood and enjoyed the views of the beech trees just coming into leaf to join the hawthorns which were now beginning to green up the hedgerows despite the cold. Once out of the wood it was good to walk along the wonderful network of green lanes that are common in this part of the Wolds. Brian and I were pleased to find a whitebeam in leaf and just coming into blossom.
