A birding day today with no camera as it was grey and cold with early fog. It was a shortish walk today across the Horsefield and around the Dead Wood. A buzzard flew low over the Horsefield and I was pleased to find a small flock of linnets in the hedge on the way across to Weelsby Woods. A great spotter woodpecker was drumming in the Dead Wood and a male calling from the top of a tree in Weelsby Woods. A few brave blackthorn flowers have already opened up and it won't be long before the hedges are a froth of white blossom again. Other species seen included:
- Mistle Thush
- Song Thrush
- Blackbird
- Robin
- Crow
- Great Tit
- Blue Tit
- Jackdaw
- Feral Pigeon
- Yellowhammer
- Jay
- Starling
- House Sparrow
- Wood Pigeon
- Magpie
- Dunnock
- Chaffinch
