A Belated Return to the Local Patch

It seems a long while since I last visited the woodland burial ground and the Horsefield so, on a beautiful sunny afternoon followed my usual circuit: cemetery, burial ground, Horsefield, cemetery and home.  It felt warm in the sun and this produced 18 small tortoiseshell butterflies.  Surprisingly this was the only species spotted.  I would have expected peacock comma and, by now, some whites.  This were quiet on the bird front, the only thing of note being the chiffchaff in the same trees as my last visit.
