First Visit of the Year to Messingham

A fortuitous visit for me as Heather and Beth had decided to meet up and Messingham was the chosen venue.  It was pleasantly sunny and, being sheltered, felt warm (15C) which meant there were plenty of butterflies on the wing.  Highlights amongst the birds were chiffchaff and willow warbler with an explosive burst of song from a cetti's warbler.  I was also delighted to find basking lizard enjoying the sun.  On the butterfly front were 5 brimstones, 7 green-veined white, 2 small tortoiseshell 3 orange tips and 4 speckled wood.

After one circuit we retired to Uncle Henry's for lunch.  A perfect day.
