Return to Ashes Lane, Day 6. Search for Green Winged Orchids

A relaxed start this morning as we were meeting Anna and Gordon for brunch at Sizergh Castle.   It was good to catch up and compare heart notes with Gordon but unfortunately Sizergh Castle cafe was less than good so we changed venue to the Strickland Arms which was excellent. Following lunch we drove round to Silverdale to look for Post Office Lots and green winged orchids.  We had a grid reference for the Lots and found the two meadows easily.  The orchids were there too, both early purple and green winged, but we were  much too early.  We shall come and look again when we are here in May.
